Yesterday evening, shortly before we had arrived to say goodnight, Robyn and Mark's gran [their late mother's mum] died peacefully in her sleep at a local nursing home after a long period of declining health.

Throughout their childhood and adolescence, she was always there for Rob and Mark. Her love for all of her grandchildren was profound and they will miss her.

Before coming back home, we all spent a short while with her in her room to pay our last respects. Not an easy thing for any teenager to choose to do...but, showing maturity, dignity and compassion in equal measure, I could not be more proud of them.
