Natural medicine on trial: The trouble with herbs

As a follow up to the 'natural'/'synthetic' chemical thing [yes, I know I said </rant> and I know it's not good for my blood pressure and I promise I won't mention it again for a while...but...] in today's Indy, Prof. Ernst sums it up rather well:

Professor Ernst cited a survey of pregnant women that showed that they wanted to avoid chemicals and so preferred plants. "They didn't realise that plants contain chemicals," he said. "The gullibility of the public is monstrous."
