A hectic few days. After 2 in Brussels getting to grips with the reviewing process for EU bids [such joy...but I need the euros] I'm back at the Hochrain for some fresh air and the Mark Knopfler gig in Bolzano on 17th.
And what a concert - after a lovely meal in Bolzano's Red Eagle restaurant (check out the history of the place) we arrived to a packed stadium and I found myself 3 rows back from the front, and centre, right in front of the man. Just a great evening of wonderful music, all of the band on top form and seemingly enjoying every minute. This despite Richard Bennett's recent stomach bug and Guy Fletcher's and Richard's mixed reviews about the Verona hotel they're in. Still, it has to be better than the Ibis that Mark [son Mark, not Knopfler] and I stayed in when we arrived there late Wed. No record of booking, so it was a good job they had a spare room.
Anyway, all too soon it was 'goodnight, thank you, now it's time to go home...' and then he made it fast with one more thing. Looking forward to the Manc. gig in exactly one month's time although when I freaked the guy on the sound desk out by saying 'goodnight' in English he seemed to think it would be raining for that one. Can't think why.
A few pics to follow.
