..but much MUCH colder. Sunny frawsty Helsinki was basking at an intemperate -19C yesterday evening - but the wind was blowing too so it felt more like -273C. My nostrils seized up, my eyelids froze and if it hadn't been for my beercoat then I'd never have made it to the Metro. My Finnish friends then proceeded to explain to me - as we descended the seemingly endless escalator to the platform - that '..only recently a man came down onto the platform with an axe and killed an innocent commuter waiting for a train'. Not sure whether the way this was explained to me was the genuine sharing of an unfortunate event or a suggestion that a taxi might have been a better option. I have good friends here (I think!) although I can never be too sure when I'm being taken for a Metroride :~)
A good trip - paperwork signed, workplan structured and payment arrangements all agreed. Who could ask for anything [workwise] more. Bring on the nanobots...and the coffee...and make the remaining hour in the departure lounge here pass quickly. Oh...and without axe murderers too.
