Wedgwood Is Going Bankrupt Because It Forgot the Lessons of Its Founder

Yaaayyy...Stoke finally gets its name into the Old Grey Lady. Sadly, not for the best of reasons. In fact, the Wedgwood factory is a little way outside Stoke, in Barlaston, so I'm not sure it really counts. The dramatic decline in the UK ceramics sector over the last 20 years, with famous names such as Royal Doulton [became part of Wedgwood], Spode [becoming part of history],...I needn't go on... has forced the city to really confront the issue of regeneration and the future that it wants for itself. Sadly, I'm afraid it doesn't have all of the answers as yet.
