The in's and out's of prostate cancer

Two parallel stories in this morning's papers.  Thumbs up [so to speak] from today's Telegraph:

All men over the age of 50 could be tested for prostate cancer after the largest international study ever conducted suggested that screening could save thousands of lives a year in Britain.

Whilst it's bad news from the NY Times:

The PSA blood test, used to screen for prostate cancer, saves few lives and leads to risky and unnecessary treatments for large numbers of men, two large studies have found.
